Key Decisions Surrounding Breast Enlargement
Many women choose to have breast augmentations to create a fuller bust. There are many key decisions that go into having this cosmetic procedure done. In this article, you’ll learn about what you need to consider when choosing breast enlargement.
Size and Shape
The size and shape of the implant play a large role in the final results of a breast enlargement. Size is generally chosen according to personal preference, but based on your frame, your doctor will suggest a range that will fit you best.
Types of Incisions
For gel implants the FDA requires the inframmary incision and Dr. Baker prefers this approach for all breast implants. An inframmary incision is made along the bottom of the breast, where the skin folds and connects together.
Type of Implant
Saline and silicone implants are both approved for use in breast augmentations. Silicone gel implants are pre-filled and have a consistency similar to human fat. They were approved for implantation by the FDA in October 2006. Saline implants are filled with a saline solution at the time of surgery. While they are not considered to appear as natural as silicone, they are lighter and less expensive.
